Roy Devereux

He cut his teeth on titles devoted to boats and boating and later moved on to travel, nostalgia and, most recently, Family History. Roy is an award-winning photographer and he illustrates his own articles. He has been coming to Swanwick for many years and has been a Course Leader on four occasions.

Simon Hall

Simon Hall reports on real life crimes, while creating a few imaginary ones of his own. His day job is as a BBC TV Crime Correspondent, but in his spare time he’s also an author of detective fiction.
Following the old adage write what you know, Simon's books are about a television reporter who covers crimes and gets so involved in the cases he helps the police to solve them. Five have been published, and they've become known as the tvdetective series.
Memorable moments from Simon's career include finally discovering the secret memorial to the late poet laureate Ted Hughes on Dartmoor, being sent into London to cover the 7/7 suicide bomb attacks, and reporting on the wonder of the total eclipse of 1999.

Alexa Radcliffe is a blunt Editor for Dog Horn Publishing and a hungry writer for a currently hidden audience. Based somewhere in the middle of most places, she is a Marketeer by day and a Writer/Editor by night. She's been writing prose and poetry for as long as she could write and believes stories lead life intrinsically and all you have to do is scratch the surface and hunt until the characters pop out and the words begin to flow. She has recently edited the now published Shark for Wes Brown and is currently nose deep in a brilliant short story collection whilst always on the lookout for new additions to the Dog Horn portfolio.

Xanthe Wells

Xanthe holds a doctorate in creative writing and currently runs her own freelance business The Writerspace, as well as being this year's Swanwick Chairman.
She offers coaching and editing support for both professional and aspiring writers and has recently worked on a number of texts for the coaching industry. Xanthe has also contributed to a series of original philosophy and wrote the Foreword to Writing and Imagery by Ann Palmer. Most recently she has completed work on a success guide for teenagers published in Ireland spring 2011.
As well as her own writing, Xanthe also enjoys teaching English and creative writing to adults and teenagers in various contexts. At Uppingham School she has been dubbed with the pseudonym 'Dr X' and works hard to maintain this slightly enigmatic identity!
